Amazon Prep Checklist: What to Prepare Before Sending Inventory to FBA

Use this checklist to ensure your products are fully prepped, labeled, and compliant with Amazon’s requirements.

Pre-Arrival Prep

  • Confirm FNSKU labels are applied (one per unit)

  • Check if poly bagging is required (clothing, loose items, liquids)

  • Determine if suffocation warnings are needed (bags over 5” wide)

  • Bundle and label multi-packs or kits

  • Inspect products for damage or mislabeling

  • Verify expiration dates (if applicable)

Packaging Standards

  • Use Amazon-approved boxes (under 25” on any side, under 50 lbs)

  • Bubble wrap or pad fragile items

  • Seal boxes with strong packing tape

  • Print and apply box labels (per Amazon shipment plan)

Shipping to FBA

  • Create FBA shipment plan in Seller Central

  • Choose correct prep instructions (Standard, Prep Required, Case-Packed)

  • Choose optimal FC destinations to reduce cost

  • Schedule UPS, LTL, or freight pickup

  • Confirm box count and weight match Amazon’s plan
