Amazon Prep Checklist: What to Prepare Before Sending Inventory to FBA

Use this checklist to ensure your products are fully prepped, labeled, and compliant with Amazon’s requirements.
Pre-Arrival Prep
- Confirm FNSKU labels are applied (one per unit)
- Check if poly bagging is required (clothing, loose items, liquids)
- Determine if suffocation warnings are needed (bags over 5” wide)
- Bundle and label multi-packs or kits
- Inspect products for damage or mislabeling
- Verify expiration dates (if applicable)
Packaging Standards
- Use Amazon-approved boxes (under 25” on any side, under 50 lbs)
- Bubble wrap or pad fragile items
- Seal boxes with strong packing tape
- Print and apply box labels (per Amazon shipment plan)
Shipping to FBA
- Create FBA shipment plan in Seller Central
- Choose correct prep instructions (Standard, Prep Required, Case-Packed)
- Choose optimal FC destinations to reduce cost
- Schedule UPS, LTL, or freight pickup
- Confirm box count and weight match Amazon’s plan
